Former assistant to Sir Alex Ferguson Rene Meulensteen has compared Amad Diallo to Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs.
Amad sparkled when he won a penalty for Bruno Fernandes to equalise and then netted the winner as United came from behind to beat Manchester City 2-1 on Sunday. The
22-year-old’s performance earned him plaudits, with Meulensteen drawing comparisons to the legendary Giggs.
“Amad Diallo could be a long-term superstar for Ruben Amorim. I’ve been very impressed with him so far and I’m sure he’ll impress managers as well in the wing-back role,” Meulensteen told ทางเข้า https://ufabet999.app. “He’s quick , unpredictable and brave. He’s a goalscorer and creative and can make an impact in the long run. “
‘He’s also impressed in the way he has adapted to the wing-back role, but we’ll have to see how he gets on in the defensive side against opposition with more attacking prowess.
‘Antony plays in a similar position but I can’t see him doing that job, he wouldn’t have the discipline. Amad on the other hand, he’s taken it in his stride.’
Giggs is one of the greatest players in Manchester United’s history. The Welshman made nearly 1,000 appearances for the Red Devils in over 20 years at the club, lifting 13 Premier League trophies, four FA Cups and two Champions Leagues.
I agree with the comparison with Ryan Giggs, the way he receives the ball and runs with it. I can see his balance.
“He’s very impressive adapting to the wing-back role. But we have to see how he does in defence against better attacking opponents.
“Anthony plays in the same position but I don’t think he can do that. He’s not disciplined enough. Unlike Ahmad, who does it very well.”
