England winger Anthony Gordon is excite to be working with head coach Thomas Tuchel after the new calendar year, having previously miss out on the job when the German was in charge of Chelsea.
Back in the summer of 2022, Tuchel had wanted Gordon while he was still wearing an Everton uniform and had informed the executives of his intentions but there was no response.
The 51-year-old boss eventually fell out of the Stamford Bridge job, while the England international was snapped up by Newcastle in the January 2023 transfer window for £45m.
Looking back to the incident two years ago, the 23-year-old admitted that he almost coordinate with Tuchel, but when the two were destine to meet, he finally came across the name ‘The Three Lions’.
“To be honest, it almost happened,” Gordon said of his summer 2022 move from Goodison Park to London.
“At that time, I had a strong desire to work with you in particular.”
“I felt my style was a good fit for the way he played. When he was at Chelsea, it was very exciting, but in the end it didn’t happen.”
“That big opportunity didn’t come true, so I told myself to hold off. Maybe in 2-3 years, we’ll meet again.”
“Have you ever talked to him? After the game when I was wearing the Everton uniform against Chelsea, we shook hands.”
“You said something inspiring, something UFABET admiring. I’ll spare you the details.”
“I felt the warmth from you, to the point that I wanted to work with you. But I haven’t had the chance yet.”
At the earliest, Gordon will be able to coordinate with Tuchel on the national team’s program. Which will resume in March 2025.
