Orthodontics can be divided into 2  types  as follows:

  1. Fixed braces include:
  • Metal bracesThis is a common type of braces. This type of braces uses a metal tool that comes with colorful rubber bands. Patients can choose to change the color of the rubber bands according to their preference  . The dentist will make an appointment for the patient once a month to change the rubber bands and prevent the deterioration of the rubber bands.
There is another type of braces called invisible lingual braces (STb Lingual braces). This involves attaching metal pieces and braces to the back of the teeth, making it difficult to notice that the braces are there. เล่น UFABET ผ่านมือถือ สะดวกทุกที่ ทุกเวลา However, this type of lingual braces requires treatment by a dentist who is experienced and specialized in lingual braces.
  • Tooth-colored braces ( Ceramic braces)It is an orthodontic treatment that is similar to metal braces, but this type of braces uses ceramic appliances that are the same color as the teeth.
  • Self-ligate appliances Or another name that is commonly known as Damon  is an orthodontic that uses appliances that are smaller than metal  braces . This appliance has a unique mechanism that allows the wire to be locked immediately, eliminating the need for rubber bands. It also comes with flexibility that helps reduce friction more than metal braces .

       2. Orthodontics with clear removable braces or Invisalign

It is a modern orthodontic innovation that is currently popular. It is an orthodontic treatment that helps solve the problem of metal braces where the tools can be clearly seen. Therefore, clear braces (Invisalign) help patients feel more confident in their work or daily life because the braces are clear, making the braces invisible. Invisalign uses 3D computer treatment planning to show the tooth movement step by step. The dentist will inform the patient of the treatment plan for tooth adjustment from the beginning of the orthodontic treatment until the end of the treatment.

This type of braces takes about  30% less time than general braces. It also has the advantage of reducing the occurrence of mouth sores or wires poking the cheeks, etc.  The use of each type of appliance can be divided according to the appropriateness and complexity of each case  as follows:

  • Invisalign Express  : Uses 7 braces
  • Invisalign Lite  : Uses 7-14 braces
  • Invisalign Moderate: Uses 14-26 braces   .
  • Invisalign Comprehensive: Uses more than  26 braces  .

Advantages of braces

  1. Enhance your personality, give a beautiful smile and boost your confidence.
  2. Easier tooth cleaning helps reduce bad breath.
  3. Chew food better due to better efficiency of the bite than before.
  4. Well-aligned teeth make cleaning easier, reduce tooth decay, and improve oral health.
  5. Helps adjust the facial structure to be in shape and create better facial balance.
  6. Orthodontics helps patients with bite problems to speak correctly and clearly, especially the letter “S” sound.

Disadvantages of braces

  1. Sometimes, it is necessary to extract healthy teeth  to make the orthodontic process more complete .
  2. Cleaning your teeth will be more difficult while you are wearing braces, and may lead to tooth decay and bad breath .
  3. This results in unclear speech or pronunciation because it is restrained by braces.
  4. It is necessary to take care of your appearance after eating  because food particles may be stuck on the utensils.
  5. You may experience tooth sensitivity or slight pain as your teeth move with the force of the rubber bands on your appliance.
  6. It is necessary to wear retainers as instructed by your orthodontist after your orthodontic treatment is complete. Failure to do so will result in your teeth moving and you may need to undergo orthodontic treatment again.
